A Message from Maryum Phillips

Hello, and welcome to Status: Home website! I’m so glad you’ve taken some time to get to know our organization better. My name is Maryum Phillips, and I have the privilege of serving as the President and CEO of Status: Home. I began in August 2021, taking over after the retirement of long-time President and CEO, Charlie Frew.

What drew me to Status: Home was the work they’ve done in the community. Beginning from 1989, when the organization started as a housing opportunity for 5 people, until now – serving over 500 people in 2021, Status: Home has made it our mission to ensure that people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS have access to the housing that is critical to their survival. At Status: Home, we know that Housing is Healthcare.

When the pandemic hit, it sent all of us home to focus on staying safe – in essence, Housing became Healthcare for all of us. And that was no different for those we serve. However, with the shutdown came changes in access to medical care, loss of jobs, and the inability to see and connect with friends and family. This, coupled with the increased needs seen, has resulted in a heightened importance of the very critical work we do.

I hope you’ll take some time to visit the various pages on our website to learn more about our housing programs, our history, and the upcoming opportunities to get involved as a volunteer. And, if you’re able, I hope you’ll consider making a donation to Status: Home. Now, more than ever, Status: Home is needed in our community.

Thank you for visiting and for all the ways you support us!

Your Generosity is Deeply Appreciated
